History Brief:
This land was located in the western part of Cheshire and the southeastern part of Waterbury. Winter Parish rights were granted in January 1769 and full privileges as the Columbia Society of Cheshire in 1798. The Parish was incorporated as the town of Prospect in May 1827. Town vital records begin 1827. Barbour collection records cover 1827-1853.
