History
Brief:
The Indians called this place, Caudatowa, for the 800-foot ridge here. On 30 September 1708, men from Norwalk purchased the land from the Ramapoo tribe. In October 1733 the settlement here became the town of Ridgefield. Town vital records begin 1709. Barbour collection records cover 1709-1850.
