In October 1683, the selectmen of Roxbury, Massachusetts petitioned the Bay Colony for a tract of land in Nipmuck Country. In 1687 they settled New Roxbury and in 1690 the asked the Massachusetts General Assembly for the privileges of a town. On 15 March 1690 the Plantation was incorporated as the town of Woodstock. In 1713, it became a part of Connecticut. Town vital records begin 1690. Barbour collection records cover 1848-1866. |
