History
Brief: |
Originally part of Wethersfield, the section became the Great Swamp Society of Farmington on 11 October 1705. In 1722 the name was changed to Kensington. In May 1754 the Parish was divided and one named the Society of New Briton. This Society remained a part of Farmington until 1785 when it was separated as part of the new town of Berlin. It was incorporated as the independent town of New Britain in 1850 and as a city in 1871. Town vital records begin 1850. |
